Maths Time Joy recently came forth with an outstanding EP, Hideaway, which he released late 2012 via Live for the Funk. During the production process, the London-based artist didn’t exactly have access to a solid pair of speakers. Thus, the three-track record was produced almost entirely on headphones and Tim Worthington likes it that way- he finds it easier to become immersed in his music.
In his follow-up to the EP, a remix for the seven-piece ensemble Submotion Orchestra, we see Maths Time Joy experimenting with soundscapes similar to those that we heard in Hideaway. Worthington transforms the relatively bass-heavy original into something more delicate. Leaving Ruby Wood’s vocal performance relatively untouched, he allows her warm serenade to soar above his silky synths and percussive intricacies.
